Game approved and ready for sale... but not on the store

My game was released yesterday according to apple. I can find it in a search but not in the category pages on iTunes. So if random people around the world search for the seemingly random and purposely misspelled phrase "Memorcise Redux" I'm golden. If not, I'm screwed. By the time it really does hit the store, which I'm guessing will be today it won't be on the front page but page 2 at best.

Anyone else experience this? Is setting your own release date a better option than letting Apple pick it if it doesn't guarantee it will hit the store that day.

each days releases are listed in AlphaBetical order. So your M would prob land it on page 2 as is. unfortunately sometimes it takes a while to show up in the new release listings. also your keywords are what they should be searching for to get to your app. thats why you need to pick good keywords so it can still be found even when apple appears to mess up your release date listing.

Yea, I've got good keywords. Wasn't thinking about that. So there is some hope. :)

Apple do what they want, when they want seemingly... If you set your own date, more often than not it doesn't feature on the new releases or will set it for when it was approved, so a few pages back.

Maybe I'll become one of those idiots that starts all titles with AAA. ;-P

also another thing to think about did you release automatically when they finished review or did you have it ready for sale several days before you released it? sometimes bugs in Apples system really mess up listing that are done like that.

I had it set to release automatically.

that is odd then. what categories are they in?

I believe it was in Puzzle & Family.

It's a game that was rejected the first time through by Apple because of a playhaven ad so this is a resubmit(after paying 500 to avoid playhaven ads. :-/) I wonder if that tweaked it.

@tenrdrmer It seems setting the date first of all (which used to fix the problem) has (or had in December when I submitted my last app) the same problem now :(

@mynameisace yeah we got burned in December with our game release date as well. Its such a screwed up thing its hard to believe apple has anything to do with it. but I guess they are not as concerned as it doesn't affect the general public.

@tenrdrmer I know Buddy, as much as I love Apple, they don't seem to be overly keen on helping out developers. For a company that has created such industry changing pieces of hardware and software, you'd think they'd be able to make it so that the date you set is when it's actually officially released. Ah, well... Seems like tailoring release dates is a thing of the past unfortunately, from now on I'm just going to submit to review and let Apple put it on when they can be bothered.

What's the name may I ask? Anyway sometimes/seldomly it takes apple about 1 day to properly put it on the app store..

Yea... That's what I've done the last few times... Apple just piss me off with release dates...
    Cheers,

    It's called Memorcise Redux.
  • Peter_OlafsonPeter_Olafson Member Posts: 301
The original Memorcise is available all over the web free. Offered by hackers who feel those of us struggling from paycheck to paycheck are being completely greedy when we ask for 99 cents for a game we spent days/weeks/months on. But that's a whole other issue.

It's on the AppStore for me.... In ireland.... Check again..
  • Peter_OlafsonPeter_Olafson Member Posts: 301
It can be found via search on all stores, but not if a person searches in categories. I've pulled up the Ireland iTunes page but don't see it listed in categories there either. Am I wrong?
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
That I don't know... I can see it in categories on my page on my iphone in Ireland.... Maybeapple blocked your ip address from seeing it because they don't like you? ;)

Yea, probably. I think they are upset that I haven't developed Doodle a Rope then Cut It from Angry Birds.

I took a look at the auto email informing me the app was ready for sale. It contains this language: "Note that it may take up to 24 hours before your app is live on the App Store. This delay is dependent upon any app availability issues."

App availability issues? They are talking in circles. That's apple for your app will be up when it's up.
