Phew! After several rejections due to crashing during Apple's testing of the app, Mozart To Infinity is finally approved! I'll post the link up when it is actually found on the App Store (currently not searchable).

I'm very interested in this one, your earlier thread intrigued me... and who doesn't love Mozart? Okay, don't answer guys.

I guess I'm a bit skeptical as to how it comes off, but interested to see it in action.

The current version 1.0 does not implement the full suite of 272 'mozart music blocks' due to severe memory constraints. I'll be working hard at getting that to work and pushing it as a valued update.

A very rare alpha build that actually uses the full complement of music building blocks actually runs extremely well on my iPhone 3GS and we use it every night (plays smoothly through to the morning when we wake). My wife and I are doing everything we can for our twins still in her tummy. :)

Just last night, she mentioned that the generated stream was more mellow than the previous night.

Okay, I grabbed the first one: 37JL39YWN9T4

    Will review... thanks!

Okay, that's pretty damn cool. How does it work? I assume you don't actually have samples of each piano key, right? And I assume you have expertise in music theory, or a really, really good understanding of Mozart? Could you do the same with Jimmy Hendrix guitar?

Anyway, love the simplicity, does exactly as advertised. Well done. I left a review.

@design219 Thanks for the tipoff for Food Fight! I can just imagine my newborns learning about their veggies with this and hopefully making it easier for me to entice them to consume them.

@QS thanks for the support! I really hope the app does what it's supposed to do well. I think I did detect some possible timing problems sporadically, but to hunt those down will take some work since it's intermittent. But people will be paying for it so I must give it my best shot. And it's a great learning experience to build future apps too.

    Now about that parsley... :)

Oh, forgot to answer your questions, design219. Actually, I'm basing the Mozart app on a 'music building block' mentality, where each music block is actually a measure of music (one bar) with a predetermined phrase that supposedly interlocks well with the measure before it and the one following it.

Just like LEGO, only that certain blocks work better when it precedes some other, and vice versa. The blocks themselves are written(composed) in a form that heralds back to the Mozart days and some even suspect it might very well be Mozart himself that originated them.

Each audio file is actually a pre-rendered block, or measure. The full implementation should have had 272 blocks for the minuets and trios but due to memory constraints, I was only able to incorporate the trio blocks. The tipoff that we could use .CAF files was the main thing that finally allowed me to even submit a non-crashing version.

I will probably recode the whole app from ground-up, now armed with new knowledge to make it more stable and I hope to eventually offer the complete set of music blocks which will really result is tremendous variation when the system randomizes based on your touch points.

I'm afraid I don't have the blocks for shreding like Jimmy Hendrix. :)

This is now my favourite app - great stuff - got it playing on the iPhone while I surf the web and work on my games :)

Many thanks - 59p well spent!

Thanks for the extremely positive comment! I hope to keep improving M2I as well as make more apps that are worth people's time (and money if paid for). :)

    May I make a suggestion?

Have a little 'i' button in the bottom right corner of your app.

When you press it, it'll make an options screen appear.

Here you can let people choose from a variety of backgrounds - blank (black screen) being one of them.

I'm not sure, but I'm worried about having the same static image on my iPhone screen for hours on end...

Might not be an issue though!

You could also add credits, links to other apps, a mozart bio etc etc

    Hope that's helpful!

    QS :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I was thinking of implementing a 'screensaver' mode indeed... either fading to black or cycling through some relevant images.
