    No, not yet anyway!

I've explored this idea till I was as blue in the face as the line in DBA's drawing!
I believe it was orbz that made a template that gets the closest to a smooth line, ?? maybe someone else remembers his name or has also tried.
I think it's mostly a lag issue, because GS doesn't keep up with redraw the "dots" fast enough.

I've been working on something like this. It's a coloring book "achievement" that you can unlock in a kids game. So far, I've added a few colors, made the brush size variable (drag the top left dot) and made a "time machine" (drag the top right dot) that lets you go back to an earlier state and/or watch your drawing being recreated. I haven't perfected the time machine effect yet, but it's useable. The last 10 seconds of the video are the time machine in action. I'm not dragging/tapping at that point. It's certainly not what I would call SMOOTH but for kids I think it's fine and fun. (The white numbers are just a timer that I'm using for debugging).

    Hi Tatlang,
Nice colouring App, In your video your colour is going over the black & white of the image. If you make the bird a transparent PNG, so the black is black and the white is transparent but sits on a white background, IF you colour under the PNG, then it would be much cleaner with just the white getting coloured in. Just a thought.

If I'm right, the question was can GS make SMOOOTH lines?
In my opinion no. It can't. At least not anywhere as smooth as the DBA's drawing app.
If the question is can GS make lines that look like lots of dots put together in a row? Well then yes it can. :)
The faster you draw the line the more spacey the dots become.

On a side note, the coloring app tatiang is making is really nice, and that might be adequate for this use.
Maybe you'd like to tell us what you want to do with the lines. Good luck to you if you decide to go this way.

I'm making a calligraphy learning app for kids, and have decided to use a work around. It's a connect the dots type of thing.
For me, this is much better than drawing "unsmooth lines".

Thanks for digging up the ORBZAMPLE MotherHoose. Try it out and you'll get a good idea of where GS's line drawing limits are.

Great idea. I'll admit I was just being sloppy, trying to see if I could get the idea to work with a googled image. But the transparent pngs will be much cleaner.

. . . or simply change the transfer mode of the actors being used for the colour to 'multiply'.

In case anyone's interested, here's the transparent version:

Just added an eraser, too. I like how a new forum thread can get me working on a project I had put on the backburner!

@tatiang - That's pretty good. You could call it an impressionism painting app. Then you don't need smooth lines ;)

    Yes it is a question

@motherhood thanks I already have it and I make it when you make line side bigger than 2 pixel it not smooth any more
@tatiang I like your video and the why you make on transparency dot but when you draw still see in dot not smooth
@honeytribestudios I still need smoothlines in my new game

Not free, but I've not seen another drawing method as smooth as mine:

No it can't and you will have all sorts of memory problems too and it will eventually crash so i would never attempt a drawing/painting app with GS.

On anything newer than a 4S it takes a lot of drawing to run in these problems. People have just generally used inefficient methods in the past. It will ofc eventually become a problem though, but later than you'd think.
