Anyone got the new iPad yet? If so, anyone tried their games with Retina sized graphics?

Just wondering if anyone has one and has tried adding retina sized graphics via importing into the images folder of the project. If so, how's it looking? Might be a bit too early, but I'm interested and anxious, lol.

    Got it!,
Regular games work okay on it...

Stopped by an ATT store here yesterday but they only have ads for the new iPad. no display. are they really calling it "the new iPad" and not iPad 3 or iPad HD or something?

    @tenrdrmer
Yep..... But the last time they did that was when they got rid of the old item.. It was "The new powerbook" Not "The powerbook G6" and after that they brought in the macbook, Macbook pro and mac pro

    mine came yesterday …

    the Good:
love the retina-display! … love the camera upgrade!
wont go back to 2 … just looking so good in new!
    ---
    the Bad:
    oh my wanted to sing:

everything on my iCloud was so busy … and in AppStore for loading purchasedApps
    --
    the Ugly: (IMO)
most of the games/apps without retinaDisplay gfx … mine and most other GS ones … look ugly
    Gradients are really ugly
    backgrounds often seem blurry
main characters seem good … except for few instances
so in general: the larger the size of the image the more noticeable the imperfections and poor-quality become

    text displays seem nicer
surprisingly (or maybe not!) … Spooky Hoofs looks even more stunning!

anyone wanting to see what theirs looks like email me … if I have the game … I will screenshot it for you …
or open your images in Preview.app > Tools > Adjust Size … 36 dpi

    @};- MH
EDIT: most noticeable degradation of gfx occurs when iPhone app is displayed 2x on iPad … logically as that is 4x original gfx display

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm thinking of biting the bullet and upgrading, after going to the apple store yesterday and playing around on the new iPad, my first gen feels super slow in comparison. I really would like to keep this first gen for app testing though.

    @MotherHoose

Firstly I would like to say well done for getting your hands on a new iPad, I couldn't get one for love nor money ! (seriously I tried both).

Secondly, can I ask what time you leave the house and if there are any loose windows at your place ?

Thirdly, would it be ok if I threw a (non-retina) GS project your way for an iPad screen grab too ?

Don't worry, it won't be like last time, this time I won't be drunk and I remembered to bring the getaway bicycle.

Made that mistake last time... Unfortunately The app iTeleportationdevicethatctuallyworks doesnt work..

@Tynan … send just a pix and I will screenshot that … not that I wouldn't love one of your projects … don't have viewer on this iPad and therefore you would have to do an adHoc build … which would be okay with me

    email is gmail

lucky, yes … love the new … but so sad that we don't have the capabilities to do the images our games will need to look good!
retina on the iPhone is nice … on the iPad it is unbelievable … almost 3D without the glasses.

If I knew how to make an ad hoc I'd send you one, but unfortunately I don't ! Would you say a 1024 x 768 screen shot is a good way to judge ? Depending on what you are using to view the image there may be unknown factors, for example Apple might be using a certain kind of interpolation with 'Photos' (the app) to scale from 1024 to 2048 that bears no relationship (or has little relevance) to the anti-aliasing/interpolation available to moving images in GameSalad . . . . . ?
    email is gmail
    What's the rest ? MotherHoose At . . . . . ?

Cheers in advance for the help . .

Looking forward to getting my hands on one !!

To be fair to GameSalad they probably need a little while with the device in their hands to ensure GameSalad works properly with it, I'm sure an RI button will turn up on the iPad sized projects (hopefully sooner rather than later).
