Can we expect support for Turn Based Multiplayer (as offered in the new version of Game Center)?

That's something I really want to take advantage of in future.

I think it is on the long term road map. not something we will probably see soon though as there are far more important stability issues that I would imagine must be solved before they could consider something multiplayer support.

I'm really hoping that the turn based multiplayer is of a high priority, as it opens up a whole swathe of fantastic opportunities for new sorts of games.

And seeing as it's already part of Game Center, perhaps not too hard to incorporate support into Game Salad.

I'm sure it will take some work! But yes, here's hoping it's on the way...

I have big plans for turn based multiplayer.

It would be awesome as they add that!

It's great games like Strategery (http://strategerygame.com/) that make me yearn for the Turn Based Multiplayer support in Game Salad.

In my opinion, support for this feature of Game Center would be my most wanted feature, allowing players to actually connect via their phones and tablets, to one another, to play games together. Which for me, is one of the main strengths of these devices - that you can connect with your friends.

Here's hoping it IS coming as a relatively high priority feature. :)

Yeah if they add Turned based gaming and Multiplayer gaming from GameCenter, I think everyone will be REALLY happy.

There's a great interview with Peter Molyneus here about putting his new team together to make iOS and other mobile games...

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-04-10-the-peter-molyneux-principle

He discusses some of the technologies that really excite him about making innovative games on these connected devices.

"I've been obsessive ever since the early days, about connecting people. And even games like Populous I did in 1989 you could play multiplayer. I mean you had to get your soldering iron out and cross over the cables on an RS232 lead, but that's been always my fascination. When you connect people you give them worlds which they can engage in in the way they want to engage and you give this emotional link and amazing things can happen."

Get Turn Based Multiplayer support in there, make it a Pro feature, and my guess would be that you'll see Pro licenses flying off the shelf at a rate multiplied by 1000. :)

think the speed and loading time now is crucial before any turn based or multiplayer can start.

They said GaneCenter was done, but it isn't... This would be nice along with BlueTooth support.

Hmm... After GS is done with some really basic issues.. i guess this would be cherry and nuts on the icing.

Would still love to see Turn Based Gaming support, by integrating support for the Game Center Turn Based Gaming API.

Looking at their last Roadmap, I can't imagine this being released anytime in the near future. It's all the way at the bottom of the list with 2 **'s behind it, which means it would first require the new UI in place before it could be implemented.

    @wpaten

Yeah, I agree that it will take some time. Not only because of the '**', but its also the last item on the list. Although the list may not be in perfect chronological order, it looks to be somewhat in chronological order.

    Sincerely,

What do you think? If you look at the responses above, people have suggested that due to the order of the roadmap items, it's unlikely to be any time soon.

My feeling (my admittedly slightly disgruntled feeling) is that progress with Game Salad is so slow, that with "Turn Based Multiplayer" being at the very bottom of the roadmap, that this feature will be so far off, that it may as well be considered "never going to come."

But hey, we can't have it all, can we?

I know I shouldn't put on whingy-voice, in an ideal world, but having waited almost a YEAR for the long-ago-announced "native code Game Salad", we're not exactly seeing the completed features flying off the roadmap.
