Magnitude

Hi, i have been working on this problem but i cant see how to solve it if anyone can help me that will be great. so i have this actor1 that moves to the right at a speed of 50 and when it collides with actor2 and there is a distance of <2 it changes it direction movement upward but the velocity stays the same, then lets say i have another actor2 but in another position, then actor1 will not recognize the distance of the first actor2 but the second actor2, so is there any way that actor1 can only recognize the distance of the nearest actor2 without having to make different actors2?

    or if you can also just tell me how to make and actor overlap another actor completely and change the direction of its movement without having to use the magnitude that will be useful too
