Purging Unused Assets

Is it possible to remove unused assets?

My file size increases when I add assets (of course), but when I removed assets from the actor window the file size stays the same.. (???)

Other than redoing my entire project, is there any way to permanently remove/purge assets from a project? If there's not currently a method for this, may I please request the Devs find it in their heart to add a feature which will at the very least flush any asset not currently in the actor window, and soon.

Make sure you remove all traces of it...
    Actors, attributes, images and audio.
If that doesn't help...you may need to go into the source folders and look for irrelevant stuff.

No easy way to purge...best thing now is to just avoid bloating things up.

Is your publishing files the same before and after?

After you remove all references and remove them from the project while while in GS (then save and exit), you can then manually remove from the resource folders in the gameproj file as synth states but be sure to remove any references to them in the xml file that lists the resources.

Nice. Thanks for the tip. I had no idea I could go into the project like that.

It's a little dicey, but I was able to reclaim a large percentage of my project back. It looks like so long as you only (re)delete your deleted images you're good. Certainly don't want to mess with the ordering of the XML.

I've been in there to clean things up here and there. It is great to get in there to re-organize the order of the attributes of the game or an actor. I usually use an XML editor, run "pretty" or "clean" (to format it nicely for easy reading/selecting), move the lines around, then use "compress" (to strip out all unnecessary whitespace), and save.

As always, create a backup before trying any of this so if you mess up, you can fall back to the backup(s).

What editor do you use? I was using Editi X.
