New loading wheel (0.9.92) is unfortunately purple :(
It is very disturbing if you want to make black and white game or use some inappropriate colours...

What do you think?

really?!... i haven't updated yet...but that don't sound to good, looks like they made the ugly wheel more uglier by what your saying lol .. why don't they just let us overlay it with a tiny png or something!

It looks like the kindle loading widget.

Heres my opinion. Its not uglier, i actually think it looks better.

But if like @Kudas said your doing a game that doesnt have that color it could be a problem, and now thats its color it draws your attention to it more.

i might update now just to see this... any major issues with the update?

im not a fan, i think it draws your attention more then the other one, and we don't want that.

    I agree :(

I noticed this yesterday and I must say I'm definitely not a fan.

On a more hopeful note, maybe this is one step closer towards a custom loading icon?

    +1

I hate any type of circle animated loading. I want to give user 1-2 maximum time between changing scene. I wish they will upgrade lua to native code soon.

Im deffinately not a fun... What if your using yellows? it draws attention from your game and simulates loading being longer than it is because of it being colorful..
GS please give us a choice between the purple and inconspicuous ones..

We should be allowed to either customise it to what we want or have a set of colours built in and we just select what 1 we want to use at publishing.
  • mmzbrmmzbr Member Posts: 311
Yeah, please GS Team change that back to white or let us customize.

Kind of surprised that something that has caused so much community noise should be changed without any consultation.

Very odd indeed. We should have a choice of colors for the loading wheel, bare minimum.

Since my actual game is really colorful, the new loading wheel fits perfectly. I like that.
But like many others have pointed out, overall the grey one makes much more sense. The new one draws much more attention to the loading times (that's terrible since they are pretty long right now). Furthermore it really ruins games that were created with a limited color palette. ):

Hopefully one day we can create our own loading animations (this would add so incredibly much personality to our games!) but until then ... the grey loading wheel seems to be the one, you should go with.

I brought this up with GS and they told me that any games published to the app store use the standard assets provided by Apple.

So, in the viewer, yes, it comes up purple. In published games, it's the same old black/white wheel thingy (to use the technical term).

Some confirmation would be nice, but this is what I was told!

    Hope that helps!

I tried Ad Hoc Build yesterday and the loading wheel is still purple :(

Well that's unfortunate. I did bring it up as I wanted to update Air Supply (a black and white game) to have a black and white wheel as it always has done, not some purple thingy.

I was assured this wouldn't happen on published games.

Anyone publish a game with the new creator yet?

just a wondering on the gs viewer folder you can actually modifiy the file image(i believe), would that work as a way of changing it on the viewer?
  • mynameisacemynameisace Hull, UKMember Posts: 2,484
The viewer really isn't important what the loading looks like, it could be a giant frog with a bad perm, it's the actual build and that is all built and packaged at Gamesalad Towers on the server so will still be in there.

i mean it would be nice to be able to change the image, anyway considering if it is that simple as changin an image, saying the viewer thing i mention, then i guess (not sure) that it wouldn't be that hard, anyway :P

Oh yeah, I totally agree that they need to make it changeable and I imagine it's as simple as replacing a PNG but for some reason, they've been holding on to the magical spinny wheel.

Looking into this guys - as @Quantumsheep mentioned it's a weekend so the main team elements that can answer this may not be able to until Monday. Will update as soon as I learn more.
Thanks, we'll wait for an update. Do you know if we are going to be able to put a custom loading animation soon?

    thx again

The old one was less obvious. The new one seems to be counting seconds with each rotation & makes the loading time seem longer. It should rotate slower.
  • KudasKudas Member Posts: 14
Yes...I have tried Ad Hoc & App Store build. The purple wheel is everywhere...
  • FirstDanFirstDan Member Posts: 208
To confirm, also on my adhoc builds...
It would be nice to have the options to change the loading symbol.
  • App SurgeApp Surge Member Posts: 651
As another confirmation, I'm getting the purple wheel on Ad-Hoc builds as well.
