What makes a game fun?
Hello,
What do you think makes a game fun to play? I've attached a basic example of a game I'm thinking of developing. The goal is to clean a very, very messy room or house. The colored blocks would be replaced by various forms of trash - bottles, old sandwiches, fish bones, etc. The user drops or flings the object into the gray box, which is the trash can. There would be a time limit.
What would make this game something that people would want to play more than once? Finding gold coins in the pile? A mental health status bar?
I appreciate your help - happy community love week!

not sure what the answer is .. fun seems to be so different for so many people. I know I have a hard time getting my kids to clean up their rooms so not sure doing so in a game would catch their interest. What about making it cute toys that need putting away and based on the device time ... you could have them come back out at night to different places. Perhaps cleaning them up gives the gamer the ability to 'see the night time activity' or interact with them like toy story. Maybe make the gamer the only 'trusted' friend and have a button to hit to get the toys to lay down in case the gamers mom comes by ... like a panic button. ?!? don't know hope there's something there to help.
