Will changing the price of my game reset it's place in the AppStore?

Someone in this forum said that about a year ago. Not sure if this is correct....

Basically I have a free game, iwould like to change the price once it goes to a higher place on the list.. But if I do this, will apple send the app back down the list?

    Well if you switch from free to paid you are switching to the paid charts so of course your rank will be reset. But for changing the price from .99 to 1.99 your rank will not be changed, but since the game is more expensive less people will probably buy it causing the rank to go down.

    If its paid and you change price, it will not lose its ranking, if its free and you set it to a paid game, it will lose its ranking

    Actually the charts are designed specifically to block stuff like that (getting got position as free and switching to paid). The only thing that Free can get you is a chance to get more rating and reviews, those do not reset.

    @EatingMyHat

    Wait... So if you publish a free app, you can't make it paid after a month of being on the app store? Sorry if I misunderstood what you said.

    You can, but you lose your rank in the chart. Let's say your app is #1 on the Free chart, once you move it to paid, you start over and need to gain downloads as a paid app.
