Hey,

Vmlweb is looking for keen developers to work on our iPhone / Mac games using GameSalad.

We are looking for anyone prepared to create their own sprites or if not be given to them and willingly create a game for us using GameSalad. You might also be asked to simply help with existing projects to help get them finished quicker. Once it's published you will be paid depending on how successful the game is. We hope the more and better games we release we could get a community together on our forums.

Thanks,
Vmlweb

Funny - one of my best friends is doing just that, tshirt ;)

If it all works, it means Quantum Sheep will become a publisher.

    My God....

    QS ;)

Edit: additionally, I'm surprised you're not doing this yourself! With your reputation, anyone publishing under you gets a better chance of making money than if they're relatively unknown.

You get an extra app to boost your coffers.

    It kinda makes sense ;)

I agree, with tshirt, The only case that would work is if the person doing the work doesn't have a game salad license or developers license.

Unless if you just want to help people for a bit of money as I guess it wouldn't just be 1 person working on the game.

I can understand getting a well known publisher like Chillingo or some other company to put their brand on your game, you creating a game, and the publisher takes a cut

The terms are usually well written out before handing it over which is how that works, but asking someone to make a game, handing it over, and not spelling out the terms is, well... going to make it hard to get anyone to make a game for you.

I would personally not do it, but to each their own :)

I got 1 person that said he'll help me and after what you guys said I think it's best if I don't do this more.
Seems like a bad idea now

Oh, I agree. But as Butterbean says, if you give your game to someone with a well known brand, you stand a chance of selling more.

Let's say I make a puzzle game, but it's just not selling. I might consider giving it to you because your sales are about 100 times what my puzzle game's doing under my own name.

I won't, mind, but you can see where there'd be an advantage. I could publish it myself and make 0, or give it to you and make half of 100.

    Does that make sense?

Go on Craig's List and you will find hundreds of listings like this.

They usually sound something like this:
"I have a great idea for an iPod app and I need someone that knows XCode and Coco to partner up with me. No money up front but I will share profits 50/50."

So paraphrased...you do all the work...I get half the money and all the credit. If it flops...I'm out nothing and your out 2-4 months of your life....oh and that's assuming I'm an honest person....and I don't just run off with the game and keep 100% to myself (or report low earnings to you).

    BTW 1:
If you know XCode and Cocoa expertly...there is no reason that you shouldn't be a millionaire already.

    BTW 2:
    @VMLWeb
About the only thing you will get out of this post is a CRAPLOAD of spam to that email address you posted. Hope it was an alias.
    LOL!

    @QS
Unless your company has the name Electronic Arts or Disney...what's the point. Check out more Cupcake, more Pizza, or More Toast on the app store......I rest my case.

@ Everyone Else who reads this thread
    IN GENERAL:
To all you newbies out there considering to work for somebody with speculation considerations....

    My Advice is:
Only work with someone you know (in person) and trust very well.
Only work with a clearly written contract in place.
Only work on an idea that you think has a good chance of making at least $500,000.
Do not work across international boundaries (if from USA)...too complicated and no sound legal protections (that you can afford).

    This is called "Joint Venturing".

Otherwise...do it on your own and keep all the profits to yourself.

Synth offers some good advice but I don't agree with this:

"If you know XCode and Cocoa expertly...there is no reason that you shouldn't be a millionaire already."

Knowing Objective-C and being familiar with the iPhone SDK will allow you to do more with the device than GS currently will for sure. However, it is mainly the idea and not the tools that will decide your fate. Sure, GS limits the ideas a bit. You can be an objective-C/SDK pro but without the hit idea, you will be sitting on a flop or be a contract or salaried programmer at some firm.

Rebump hit the nail on the head I think.

I could go into detail but I'll get into trouble ;)
