Decision time....RPG or Platformer?

So I've been making a game originally intended to be an RPG,but it seems that the sword for the main character is to small to be practical, as you need to get too close to an enemy to hit it. So i'm wondering, should I turn this into a platformer with RPG elements (jump on enemies to kill) or should i change the character into a wizard (long range attacks instead). Still, this may lead to spamming of the attacks and making the game WAY too easy. Either way, here's a few screenshots and pieces of artwork:

Well I had this same problem a while ago. I say Platformer cause it is a lot easier and once you have the base you just need to make maps and it'll work just fine. An RPG requires a lot of time, and since there are a lot of weapons/quests, it'll be hard to complete developing... It also depends how much time you have on your hands...
    Hope I helped!

True, I'm definitely leaning towards a platformer with RPG elements (XP,Health) but without quests, etc.
