Math game using tables

Hey all, new to the forums here, but have been lurking for a long time. Finally got enough saved to get a Mac mini!
I have looked for a link or post but don't seem to find a resolution to my problem. I am building a simple math game for my boys. Is it possible to use tables, and have random math questions appear and then reference a second table to check the answer? If so, does anyone have a link with some in depth table design examples. I have seen a few, but not exactly what I am looking for.
I love these forums, but the search function is a bit odd to me. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
