Hey world...

It's been an age since I've actually had much to say or show with GameSalad, but this evening I sat down and worked on a quick game idea and thought I'd share what I've done so far. (I was supposed to be doing someones website but thought better of it)

I've made use of the 3d blocks I created for my last game 'Audio Invaders'.

Basically I'm taking those blocks, adding a 'block' hero actor, some physics and created a simple endless runner.

The only real new half-clever bit is that if you land on top of the blocks you can jump, if you hit the side you fall.

If you hold down jump you jump higher than if you tap and let go (though the jump does end after 0.6 seconds).

Hoping that I'll stick with this project and grow it into a full game...but we shall see.

Here's a quick video to show tonights progress, a bit of inspiration at the moment from 'The impossible game' but my actual main idea is a little different.

What do you think.... is there room for yet another endless runner if I can find some slightly unique styling...

Love your 3D work using 2D tools! Knowing GS, it's amazing work.

The 3D blocks are cool.. did you check out HoodLoc's game Color Rush Ninja? It's pretty cool for a GS endless runner game, I like them anyway,, I say keep going..

    Thanks for the comments guys.

As for where have I been. After releasing and updating audio invaders I just sort of downed tools for a bit, did some other bits n bobs, and got a little disheartened with poor sales for audio invaders, a game I actually rather like. Also I kinda miss the old slightly broken forum, it seemed easier on the eyes, so haven't been reading or posting much. Lastly I spent a couple of weeks learning the basics of unity, might give it a go at some point, but GS is still so so so much more rewarding to develop ideas with.

I've now added an end point to the game, tweaked the controls and added some particles just for fun.

Not yet sure what sort of game this will evolve into. Perhaps a game called 'Dave the hedgehog' in a nod to sonic.

Looks a lot like The Impossible Game, but the 3d effect looks really nice!

With the proper character graphics, this can look very very nice!

    Cheers guys...

Spent this evening working on a character idea, trying to build it up and rig a 3d model that I can then render out in a cel shaded style... walk cycle, running, jumping, falling, and the obvious look cool for a title screen image.

Also got my quick game mock up working on my phone for some testing on there, all working well.

Could this be my quickest game yet.... I highly doubt it... but I'll give it a go and try to resist making the game too big or over complicated.
