Techniques for making promo videos of games

Hi,
I am trying to make a promo video for a game made with gamesalad.
I can do it the old school way with a little HD flip camera on a mini tripod, then remix the audio etc once i put it into final cut or similar. The only problem with this is it is like the old days when you recorded tunes from the radio with a microphone in front of the speaker.

Can any gamesalad pros (or at least more experienced people than me) suggest any tools or techniques for making promo videos for games?

This is part question, part discussion, so forgive me if you think this is in the wrong category... i am trying to gather some info that will be useful for people searching in the future.

Thanks all.

Jez

For audio, you could use Soundflower to pass the system audio to a recording application.

Just use a screen recorder program and preview and then select the area around the preview window and record. This will record the audio as well. You can layer the video in an editing program over an image of an iPhone or iPad. If you look at many promo videos they don't even bother putting it on an iPhone they show the gameplay full screen and cut in and out with graphics.

@jezjones - Just yesterday someone posted a service that should be perfect for you - http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/43249

Other then that, you could use QuickTime to record your desktop while using the Viewer, but you can use apps to hide your mouse, like Screeny! SoundFlower is great for sound.

    Cheers,
