Do bad reviews equal bad sales?

Ok I'll be honest here, I try and put good effort into my games but my newest game is getting slaughtered by customer reviewers..blood bath style...but it's in the top 100 amazon chart and making decent money. I'm wondering how people's experience are with bad ratings...do they lower sales? I'm probably gonna make a better update soon but I'm curious about other peoples experience

Thanks

Yeah, think from a consumer's point of view... If something had 1 star review, would you buy it?

    Sorry man

Even if I was making a bunch of money, I wouldn't be content with bad reviews.

Are we talking bad reviews from major gaming sites or bad reviews on the appstore?

I wouldn't worry too much about the latter to be honest. Take note of any constructive and valid criticism in the user reviews and try to incorporate that into your games. Also, keep in mind you can never please everyone. There will always be someone who wont like your game no matter what

It's good when you have constructive reviews, but there are many, non-helpful, and poor reviews, like: "crap. waste a dollar". I wouldn't care about reviews like this. But you should spend some time on fixing errors, and updating you game, taking into account player's opinions - I did, I made more than 10 updates for my first game, I even made the entire game, one more time from the beginning.

That's the best way to do it in my opinion and honestly if you're getting sales then you're doing something right

Personally i mostly use appstore reviews to check for any game breaking bugs but other than that i pretty much discard them. As an example i just redownloaded reckless getaway for my ipad and stumbled upon someone giving it 1 star because the road suddenly made a turn lol

A question I often like to ask myself is... Is this game something that I enjoy playing? Then I ask some other people, and I get really good feedback.

My friends and family enjoyed it but that's biased obviously. No I'm not big fish games but I'll see what I can do haha. Whats interesting is that temple run ripoff guy just stays on the charts regardless of the million one star reviews .....thanks guys

Sometimes if a game is fairly high up the charts but has absolutely terrible reviews I'll check it out, just out of interest. It's kind of like an uncanny valley thing - I obviously lean toward games with the best 5 star reviews, followed by 4 star, starting to leave anything 3-2 star... but then bang, if it's got one star and the reviews are full of pure hate, I've got to check it out of interest.

Not suggesting making bad games is a good strategy though, sorry to hear your getting bad reviews.

I had some bad reviews on one of my apps. Just saying it is bad without telling why. I decided to make a free version with ads which is downloaded about 30 a day for months now. No complaints whatsoever and some people still buy the payed version. I guess they tried the free version first. I haven't had any reviews in a long time while thousands have the free version.
I put a lot of hard work in my apps so it is kinda stingy but there is nothing I can do about it.

    My opinion:
If it is constructive, complains about certain issues, then try to make it better and update. If not, just ignore it.

Sadly, and honestly, it doesn't seem to be the case. I've seen 1-2 star apps rank very well, especially in the kids section. And they literally have 1 star reviews saying "scam, bogus, do not buy" etc, and they still rank in the top 100.

Well no one knows EXACTLY how Apple does it. My guess would be it's a mix of everything.
