1024 x 768 still considered HD?

Is it appropriate to put HD on a title for the iPad version of your game if your res is only 1024 x 768? Do people expect Retina Display in a game that says HD these days? Just curious what people's thoughts are on this..

HD is just a common add-on to iPad apps. If possible, I would try to make it fully retina (2048x1536 (or whatever the iPad3 retina dimensions are)). People are expecting more and more for less and less. Sometimes you just want to please those people.

The first thing people see is the art. If it is non-retina, you have already made it harder on yourself to get people to download it.

I think that if your app is called ....HD, don't change it. But if you make a new one, non retina, don't add the HD on the name.

HD i think is from 1080x720 so the iPad 2 is HD display. The retina is full HD because it is higher than 1920x1080 just my thought....

@patapple I think you are thinking of TV HD resolutions, which are either 1280x720 or 1920x1080. That doesn't have any bearing on apps though, strictly HD is just a badge people added to iPad apps as a selling point. Personally I think that you can't call iPad 2 HD any more as the iPad 3 is much higher res, but I guess by that logic we will always be moving the goalposts as to what HD is, everytime they up the resolution.

Maybe we should keep iPad 2 apps as HD, and introduce SHD for iPad 3 apps...Super HD! Don't worry I have iPad 4 covered too, we can call that one SuperMega HD. :-)

Don't change your app name if it was there before iPad 3, but if you are doing a new one, don't call it HD.
