Game freezes on GSViewer on iPad frequently; rarely does so in GS. Thoughts?
Hey,
I just got a dev account and have been testing my game on my iPad. Unfortunately, it seems to freeze up quite often. This hasn't been a real problem in GS, so I am not sure if it is a coding issue, or a viewer issue. Has anyone else run into this? Did anyone find a general fix?
Thanks!
Charles

Personally, the GSViewer isn't ideal either because of what @JohnPapiomitis said.
An adhoc only takes me about 5 minutes or less to publish, so it's pretty easy, and you get much better testing and loading results.
@Cluv
Here is a video on how to publish to your device using an adhoc. Your app should load the same on an adhoc as it does when you publish to the App Store.
Hope this helps,

The problem with ad hoc is that it takes way to long to publish and for testing, this isn't ideal...
@3xL Give Test Flight a try, it makes the process much easier. You still need to build, but once you upload the build you can put it on your devices over the air without iTunes.
If the freeze is in the same function, check your code. There are cases where the Creator preview will behave differently compared to a built game (e.g. Game Center, IAP).

I don't even bother with the GSViewer. I just go straight to Ad Hoc.

@EatingMyHat: the game isn't linear necessarily, but it freezes on the same function in the viewer, but not in GS.
I've been getting some crazy glitches as well. Not freezings, but remember back in the Nintendo days when you put in a dirty cartridge on the console and try to play it and all you see is a bunch of colors and weird artifacts? That's why I'm getting sometimes.
Like said above you should do an adhoc build to see how it is. Thats a actually build of the app loaded on your device like you bought it in the appstore, not running threw the viewer.
gshelper.com has videos on how to build the adhocs
Easiest way to beta test your app before release.
