so i have a project that I'm working on right now that has the dimensions of 361x187 i need your advice...

what do you think is a good size to make the level for the game... its a plat former game and i was wondering what would be an appropriate size for the game so that i can make it so the level won't end too fast and won't be too long to finish

any advice helps

thanks!

    Wow, that's a hard question. It really depends on the game. I have seen games with no scroll and still each level was challenging and took some time to solve, while others require scroll since they are have a different pace.

    It is all about your game, is it slow and makes you think how to solve the level or do you run around jumping and shooting so you need more space.

    well the best way that i can explain the game would be like the "pizza boy" game or "wakakaka" or whatever the hell that game is called LOL so more than likely there will be a scroll

    I would go for 5 iPhone resolution length. So, let' say 5 full screen backgrounds (480x320, or 960x640 for Retina).

    @TheMoonwalls, how did you arrive at that 5 screens figure? Is that based on memory limitations or, something else in your experience? Thanks.

    @digitalzero

    I realize that this is a side not, but if you are going for an arcade game where you have a guy that you move around, 4 iphone screens put together in a rectangle is perfect ;)

    GREAT! thanks so much :) so in order to do this the only thing that i have to do is add a control camera attribute to the main actor the background would have to be on a scrollable layer and then make the scene size four times the iPhone size right?
