I want a background with an animated actor. when I preview, the background is transparent.

How do I make the background visible?

check the visible switch in the actor (true) and make sure alpha is set to 1 and all colors (RGB) are a value of 1.

Okey dokey. What is a background then? Just a solid color "nothing"?

Yea, you can specify the BG color, but that's it. If you want a real BG you have to make a BG actor.
