If you had $3000 to spend on Software what would you spend it on?

CulturePlayCulturePlay Member, PRO Posts: 113
I'm looking to add software to my business.

I have the Adobe suite. I need screen recording software, what do you recommend and why?
What other software tools do you recommend? I will be adding Gamesalad Pro soon.

Thanks!

thats true. before angry birds, there were others like it, but lacked polished and style.

same goes with many other games

but to the OP, yea i would get flash or the whole adobe suite (if you need it), drawing tablet and maybe upgrade the ram on ur machine (to use said softwares to run better)

Also think about the Deep Blue Gamesalad applications. Project Merger is on you can't do without in my opinion. I also have project attributes which is nice too.

Project Resizer. I couldn't imagine trying to do that manually.

Ok, Here is your recommended list so far for Gamesalad Developers:
I think this will be a good resource for forum newbies too:

    1. Adobe Suite if you can afford it. Or free alternatives (Inkscape, Gimp)
    2. Gamesalad Pro or Free version
    3. Screenflow
    4. Adobe After Effects ( This one is $1000!) I'm not sure what the benefits are?
    5. DBA Resource Center - is Project Manager & Project Resizer part of this resource center?

Can you think of any other software/resources?

@Cultureplay Adobe After Effects is an amazing software (made for professionals) for making cool promo videos, and in-game cut-scenes. I love it :)

There are amazing possibilites - you can even make the entire Star Wars in this app (special effects, etc), and it's easy to use.

I wouldn't spend it on software, I'd get a kick a** computer set up.

Here is an updated Game Developer software wish-list with approximate costs:

    1. Adobe Suite (US-$1899 or $49 per month).
    Or free alternatives (Inkscape, Gimp)
    2. Gamesalad Pro ($299) or Free version
    3. Screenflow ($99)
    4. Adobe After Effects ($1000)?
    5. DBA Resource Center - ($236) - 1 year subscription
    6. @tshirtbooth GSHelper resources - ($120) - 1 year subscription

Feel free to make additional suggestions. What about software for creating music/sound effects etc...?

I would recommend Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection. You can get it under a grand now since version 6 is out. You get all the graphic apps, plus the music and video editing apps. Maybe buy a few lynda training videos. They helped me a ton with Adobe and IOS 5 development.
