Achievements question?

When I set up an achievement attribute do I need to also set up an attribute so that it only goes once? I just don't want the achievement to always pop up when loading the menu... Or does it just go off once and it is controlled on Apples end?

    The achievement will not show up twice, once it is set to 100 it will never trigger again.
