Bar that shows the distance from the finish

Hi GS guys, i got a question, i want to show in a bar the distance between my game hero and the goal or the finish point of the level just like in the car games, the game begins with the hero far away from the finish point and i wanna show up in the HUD a line with the hero's head on the line's left edge and the the square flag on the right edge, so while the hero get closer to the finish the hero's icon on the bar move forward to the flag and if the hero go back the icon do the same in the bar.

Could somebody tell me the way how to do this? thanks in advance
