I'm excited to finally announce my project I've been making with gamesalad. Its an interactive children's book called "Loopy Lost His Lettuce'

The art style of Loopy the snail is designed in the extremely unique and colourful art form called freeform crochet. All objects and creatures have been individually hand-made by my girlfriend. Once crafted photos of them are taken in our studio, then I animated and add them into gamesalad. :)

We think it's a very unique style which fits the children's book theme very well. We are now getting very close to finishing the book!

Description

Loopy Lost his Lettuce is an interactive children’s book for mobile devices including iphone, ipad and android devices.

"Loopy the snail lost his lettuce and he needs your help to find it! Help him travel through the four seasons and meet a range of colourful characters along the way. Featuring 28 pages and 7 mini-games Loopy Lost His Lettuce is a fun, unique nd creative adventure into the world of crazy crochet creatures!"

Features

- 28 individual pages of the interactive story. Each with separate animations and sounds.

- Travel with Loopy the snail through the four different seasons and see the environment change.
Meet a range of different characters along the way. Including Mumma Buttefly, Sneaky Squirrel, Rainbow Worm, Mr. Snowman and the Bumbly Bee.

- 7 mini-games to play as you journey through the game (These include helping loopy the snail find butterflys, collect nuts, help rebuild Mr. Snowman, sorting snow flakes + more)

- 3 Difficulty levels aimed at different age groups.

- Option of “Read to me” or “Read yourself”.

I've put a teaser trailer up showing off some of the gameplay;

We thought we would try our luck at raise money to finish the game via crowd funding and have put up a page on pozible located here;

There is a presentation video on there which explains the project if your interested in seeing how we convert the balls of wool into animated creatures :)

We have also put up a website located at http://www.crochetcreatures.com

Any feedback is very welcome!

    @Nikkon This looks really great,, I am also working on a children's book, aim to be finished by christmas... Mine will have no gameplay,, just slight interactive features.. are you submitting this as a book? or as a game for kids??

    I intend mine as a children's book,, so I am curious do you have to tone down the gameplay at all? How does the Apple classification work when submitting?

    That's just lovely, @nikkon; spot-on for children, I think! Hope it's really successful for you. Love the crochet-style, and the name Loopy Lost His Lettuce; excellent stuff. :-)

    Will be submitting it to app store with its first category as 'book' within the app store. Then 'game' as 2nd. But it is mainly a book. All the games relate to the story as you read along.

    Ive added 3 gameplay modes (easy, medium, hard) for the games to allow for young and older children (or even hard games are fun for adults).

    When you say classification do you mean rating suitable for children? You have to fill out questionnaire when you submit the app which asks for any inappropriate content.

    I really want a few people to test it before i do the final submit. so if you got an iPad and feel like playing it my test flight link is here;
