What do you expect out of iOS 6.

There are supposed to be new Apple maps, and a apple tv sdk.

What features do you want gamesalad to integrate?

Haha. I would like support for the tv sdk if apple makes it available. Gamesalad should be the first engine to add the ability to build our games for apple tv. If we are first to market, developers could really make some money.

Heh, I'm trying not to think about GameSalad and the WWDC. I know how this usually goes...

    1) Apple releases cool new feature.
    2) Community goes nuts over new feature
    3) GameSalad says they're working on it
    4) Community gets frustrated
    5) New feature finally gets release, but after interest is lost or feature isn't as significant

Example... If the ability to put Game Center achievements in GameSalad games was added last year, I probably wouldn't be using Stencyl today. That was one of the features I was excited about. Now that it's finally here, I'm not motivated enough to renew my GameSalad subscription. I am planning to renew my subscription eventually, but I'm waiting for some other new feature to excite me.

    What feature would that be?

Well... the ability to create games on Apple TV could be one of those exciting motivators. I could improve and port my existing library of games... and release new games. Wow... that would be fun. I am waiting to see what Apple announces next week. If games are launched to the Apple TV, I'll likely be buying an Apple TV soon after.

And see, that's a great comparison. The Apple TV is not a bad device. It's just not good enough to get me excited. But with a slight change like an App Store... it becomes a no-brainer. And yes... I consider that a slight change because Apple TV runs on iOS. It really shouldn't be rocket science to open an App Store on Apple TV.

...and I'm reminded of when GameSalad got it right... the iPad launch.

It was probably one of the greatest moments in GameSalad history. Instead of waiting for a feature, GameSalad was early. We were there... with brand new apps... on launch day! And because of that, a lot of GameSalad games were ranking fairly well on the app store.

When is a better time to publish apps to Apple TV?
...when there's 100,000+ apps for it?
...or when there's only 1000 apps for it?

In my experience, it's better to be early.

So, if Apple TV essentially becomes a game console — and GameSalad is ready for action on launch of such an App Store — that's exciting stuff for GameSalad developers.

    @Photics

I think you are on the right track with Apple TV becoming Apple's answer to gaming consoles (not to mention all things multimedia). When that day comes, I hope GameSalad is ready for deployment into that realm. It would be sweetness for sure.

@RP That day will likely be Monday. Give a few weeks to let Apple roll it all out, and then it's open. It's all a rumor, but if I was GameSalad, I would pump up the development of a Apple TV GS Engine. As soon as they release the SDK, I would build it right into the lua drop engine, and try to get it out by the time Apple releases the Apple TV App Store. This is one of the times I would like GameSalad to be first to market.

GS would be smart to start development on it the day it is announced.
