Newbie Question

Hi out there. I'm new to gamesalad and I'm looking to create some apps other than games (i.e. calculators, etc.). Gamesalad was recommended by a friend to any 2D apps. Can anyone out in GameSalad land direct me towards the right resource/tutorial?
