Hi, I am planning on buying a new Macbook Pro within the next few weeks and I was wondering if there was any advice that I should know about. Like if the prices will drop after a couple weeks or something. Anything that helps me find one is appreciated! (looking for a 13 inch.)

Also, what applications would it come with?

Thanks

Apple only drop prices once they release a new model. Your best chance is to get a bit extra value from 'back to school' promotion that they run once a year (free printer in the past, $50 iTunes card this year).

they just announced new ones, so prices won't drop. i suggest you take a look at the refurbed units. you can get last years models for $150-200 off normal prices, which is a good deal.

if you are looking for the 13" and don't mind losing the cd drive, get an AIR, it's a much better machine.

it'll come with iLife and Lion with a free upgrade to Mountain Lion when it comes out.

Thank you very much for the advice!

If I do get a refurbished one, will it still be as reliable as the new ones? Does it matter that there is no retina? Are there any major sacrifices?

Also, should I get a refurbed Pro or Air?

    Thank You Very Much!

@DanDaMan123 Refurb ones are just as good as the original ones, I have one my self and there is nothing wrong with it. Really the whole retina thing is just like the thing with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, people liked retina, but it's not really needed. Personally, I prefer the Pros, they are much better for development and hard-core stuff.

refurb'd is great. same 1 year warranty in a white box. the past 3 machines I've purchased from apple have been refurbs. same service, same warranty, cheaper price.

retina is a personal preference, I'm looking at getting one, but not for working with GS, for editing photos.

pro vs air is up to you. the air is incredibly thin and light, and the 13" vs 13" pro is pretty close. its up to you

The main Bonus now with Pro vs AIR is PRO you can get larger non SSD for less money. Besides that they are pretty much the same. Im personally not gonna pay double for a retina Display. And yeah My MBP is a 2010 model and I have no plans of getting anything new for a couple more years Apple computers generally run great for a long time.
