Graphics question

Hey guys was wondering something.
When building a platformer, is it better to say build your levels in photoshop, and save in a series of say 320x480 images and use them along side ground actors etc,

Or is it better to use a bunch of small ground images, and by extension more actors ?

    @terabit its a matter of personal choice rather than a GS ques.

    Still if you have large voids in d backgnd, like sky and all, focus on having bunch of small images. Also focus on using more of the replicate feature, it'll save you tons of performance.
