setting up Android question

I'm trying to get my SDK set up, i was using the cookbook and did as it says

opened a terminal, typed in: ~/sdk/tools/android update sdk --no-ui
and it gives me a message saying: "No such file or directory-MacBook-Pro"

what am i doing wrong?
