Multiple Large Background Images

Hey Everyone, I am wondering before I get too much further in my game the impact that 12 large images (dimensions, not KB) would have on a scene. I am making a side scrolling game and there are a ton of platforms that can't possibly be done without large images, 12 to be exact. Each image file size is between 18kb and 25kb at most, so 200K total for each scene. I was wondering how this would affect performance on an iPhone? Will it be ok? I am not pre-loading the images as I have heard it doesn't help speed-up loading times.

Unfortunately, I have my doubts. However, you can create an illusion by making it seem like your scrolling to the sides but actually, only two images are being displayed and are constantly changing their image.

This sounds complicated, I know, but you should view the GS Be The Spark Game template (free on the market place).

Also, I believe there was a recent post on "changing images using tables" or something like that.

Hope this helps and good luck!
