I was so naive, after being one of the first wave of developers to get their paid contracts and SDKs all set up, I spent the July 4th weekend in a crash course of Objective-C and using Xcode for the first time. I created a tip calculator called "Tipster" and set the price at $0.99 USD, thinking to myself, "even if I sell just a 50,000 of these, I can pay off all my bills and take the family on vacation." I submitted it right before the deadline, only for it to sit for three weeks in Review Limbo, waiting for approval. By the time the App Store opened, there were over two-dozen tip calculators, some free to $1.99, and many of them with varied features. Well, needless to say, I didn't sell 50,000 copies and but it has nearly paid for two of my children's daycare over the past year and a half, so I really can't complain.
Fast forward to now and I see that it might be a bit of a rush to get in on the iPad's App Store showcase. But, if GS can't give us a binary to couple our game data with soon enough, this will be another train that may pass us by.
testing? Otherwise we all miss the opening....?
