Can your app be rejected for not having retina graphics?

I know that having retina display graphics are a huge bonus, but can apple reject your app for not having retina display graphics?

    Can you not break the background up into several chunks that move as if they are one? I've heard it's more efficient.

    Dam, if thats true that will suck. I dont think I can have retina graphics because of the design of my game for the main background. at the moment its 1024x1024 and the player moves about in that size background and im pretty sure it's not retina. And i could not have a bigger background image because it would lag the game. say for example the background was 2024x2024

    Yep, I made something like this in Ashes & Roses - it works very well :)
