Almost finished making my app, where/if I should invest in marketing?

I made my app and have money I can use for advertisement, but what do you think would be the best idea. I've looked into free app a day, playhaven advertising, flurry, and google and Facebook ad services. Let me know if you have had success with these or if I shouldn't waste my time.

TechNoir Posts: 117I would suspect that the cost per click wouldn't be worth it using Facebook,, unless your app is priced well above 99 cents.. I would concentrate on generating your own marketing using the app itself, FB link, Twitter, your website link... etc.. and its free.

So I have heard different things about all of the services you mentioned.
Free app a day - I heard this service really doesn't return your investment. Right after you put the app back to paid, I even heard that some download numbers were lower than before the "promotion". So I would suggest staying away from that site if you are trying to get some revenue going.
Playhaven - Although I have not used this service before, I have read some good things about it. It is still so early to be integrated into GS though, So I might wait, your call.
FaceBook Ads - I would really stay away from this. I have read a lot of articles now about how FaceBook users's eyes have learned to just ignore the ads. Meaning, It really does not return any sort of good investment. I would however urge you to make posts about the app on your wall and your friends wall, I just wouldn't pay FaceBook to put an ad live if I were you.
Cheers,

MobileRocketGames Posts: 128Unfortunately itunes is still your best/primary method of reaching customers.
Having a lot of keywords, catchy screenshots and above all, a well polished game will attract the most attention. Also submit your app to as many app-review websites as you can. They will help get the word out there. -
apppickercom Posts: 11My site www.AppPicker.com starts a promo code section next week. Maybe that would generate some interest for you. We would also do a review.

Good point about keywords from @MobileRocketGames although I found with my first app that there was a limit to the amount of tags/keywords you could have... it wasn't that many.... I wonder if that's changed now...""You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike." - Zork temp domain http://spidergriffin.wix.com/alphaghostapps
