Everybody here makes millions every month! Put it on the App Store, and they will come...Is what I would be saying if that were true, but unfortunately it is not.

Very few people make hundreds per month, much less thousands. Don't get me wrong, there are some that do, but the majority of us do not. It can be done, It's hard work, and takes a lot of dedication, and well polished games to get to that position.

I found that I had a ton of sales for iOS the first week following some promotion, but it quickly tapered off. Where I have been selling consistently is in the Mac App Store; although my game today fell out of the top 10 in the Games-Kids category (US store) for more than an hour for the first time, which might be a sign that sales are about to decline there too.

For Android, I initially had success on Amazon, but oddly enough it stopped selling there and I suddenly sold a bunch on Barnes and Noble (which has stopped as well). Google Play has been a total disappointment. I've sold 3 copies there, total, in a month.

All in all, I'm close to 2000 sales after one month, at .99 a copy. Not great, but not awful for a first attempt. I made a TON of mistakes on this first game, so I just consider it mostly a learning experience.

I've been surprised by the lack of volume on the Kindle. Even my free apps don't get a lot of downloads. And iOS.. getting exposure there is extremely difficult :)
