How big of a program is too big for iPhone/iPad?

Hey Everyone!

I have been working hard on a children's game app. I am getting towards the final stages and am a bit nervous about how big of a file size I should be working with, then exporting for general use. Currently the project is about 10 megs, which covers most of the sounds, graphics, and code. I would like to add a couple of songs, some more sound fx, and that is pretty much it. What size should I be shooting for/under?

Thanks!
Charles

250mb used to a max for many but now i think the limits are higher.
Think of people downloading over networks so huge sizes can make an impact on a sale progressing or not.
    10mb is nothing really.

Thanks for the reply! So, for a kids game, we thinking 20, 30? How much is reasonable for a simple game do you think?

They did bump it up to 50mb.

The only thing that will really hurt your sales is making a bad product. People won't download terrible games just because they are downloadable over data network.

Make something good and you don't have to worry about the size.

Thenew limit is 50mb, so that's a good target to stay under only for downloading over cellular
Lovely... i totally missed that :)
GS might concider removing the warning in the GS creater when you exceed 20mb and bumb it up to 50mb.

During development, BOT grew to around 100 MB. I started having trouble uploading the game to GameSalad. I had to dramatically reduce the size of the images to publish my game.

When I finally published my game, it was somewhere around 80MB. A lot of players complained about the file size... saying it was too big.

I know that I don't like my apps too big as a general rule of thumb. 20-50 Mb sounds reasonable to me.

I would definitely shoot to hit under 50Mbs then. You are eliminating a huge potential crowd of people that are downloading apps over cellular data.. Just my two cents.

    Cheers
