Need help with actors!

I have a problem, with the game i try to make to iPhone, the problem is that, I have made 2 actors with will move a figure op and down, but when i touch e.g. op it continues op, and I have to press down to make it stop again, but then the figure can't move op or down, and I don't know what I have to do, so the figure goes op and down then you press the button, and stops when you don't hold you finger down on the button anymore. I hope you can help me or maybe say what you will recommend me to do?

In the cookbook, I believe there's a video in the cookbook about acceleration and changing direction.
