i just got a mac mini and a ipad 3 for gamesalad work. keep in mind i have never touched a mac or ipad before night before last. so i'm pretty new at all that. That being said i have been in the game industry for 8 years and know my way around pcs so while new at macs i am not a tech idiot.

could someone maybe point me at some tutorials on how to put test builds of my games to the ipad and iPhone for testing?
also is the 99 dollar apple developer membership required to test?
i watched a video last night but it seemed clear it was for people who have experience with macs and breezed thru stuff like "xcode" and stuff that i don't even know what is. I have found a good bit of info on publishing games, but not much on throwing out a temp test build. Help would be appreciated.

thanks.

Xcode is an IDE used to build applications for iOS and Mac OS X. You will need to install it; it's free, and you can get it from the Mac App Store (it's in your toolbar).

Testing on an iOS device is a bit of a hassle, but it's not THAT difficult. You need to build an "adhoc". The basic steps are:
1). In the iOS developer center, open up Provisioning Portal
2). Select Provisioning and choose "New Profile"
3). Download the profile and install it on your Mac
4). Publish the game in GS and choose the Adhoc profile you created
5). When it's done publishing (essentially "publishing" in a GS sense means you're sending your file to the GS servers, they are compiling it, and sending the executable back to you) you can install on your device through the Devices Manager in xCode.

There are more steps than that (especially the first time; you have to set up your devices, etc.) but tshirtbooth's video explains it pretty well step by step.

Go to Tshirtbooth site (GShelper.com) you will get everything you need from there and yes you have to pay the fees to test

    Good luck with your games
