WOW wtf is happening to the forum, why is my avatar massive when I try and post a comment, and why are the reactions weird?,
    I hope @saladstraightshooter fixes this

@Leonard have a look at some old threads - it seems SOME PEOPLE have been voting themselves. Harmless enough I guess when its just general banter - but in a democratic forum when views and opinion sway politics - totally despicable.

I can't - maybe sous can - but a certain community manager has been doing it all along and I am less than impressed. If you hover over the icon you will see the date.

    @LeonardDeveloper
the massive avatar in the 'Leave a Comment' section is there …
to remind us of who we are! … in case we forget!

but what puzzles me is why your miniAvatar appears in Rob2's post?
if it isn't too personal … can I ask … how much do you 'Like' Rob?
and in my case … could I have a 'Love' option for him?

@Rob2 … darlin' will you settle for the Awesome? it is a heart … a black heart?

ah … people with severe paranoia … "nobody likes me; so I will like myself"
like that lack of integrity in those having control of some things!

oh well, since we can all see that the Emperor has no clothes …
perhaps they will reopen those posts and remove their self-awards

@Tshirtbooth … of course you didn't know you could award yourself!
you exemplify decency and integrity … not a fraudulent bone in your body!

I also don't like the new Views feature - it supposed to let you see how many people read the post, but in fact it can be misleading - it looks like number of replies to the thread.

For the record, I accidentally (no, really!) clicked "Awesome" on one of my posts on one of my own threads (I thought by clicking it i'd find out who had also clicked it) - so it does seem like Sous' can do this...

Yes, don't like the massive avatar below "Leave a Comment" either - just a bit over the top; actually, totally unnecessary, as @LeonardDeveloper says, we don't need reminding who we are! ;-) ; and showing tiny avatars to represent "Insightful", "Agree", "Like" and "Awesome is a retrograde step - as well as complicated to the eye... we still have to hover to see which one the icon means, until we learn, and to find out how many.... seems silly.... no li'l avatars; bring back the "Like", etc list showing under the posts only!!

"Massaging the design until it screams for you to stop..." ;-) Just made that up.

And the sous chef clicking his own Awesomes? Tut tut, really.

I think that he, or she is sitting now, and turning them off :P

    ah … @gyroscope … that is precious:

I tend to do that to my projects!
could you do that up as a bumper sticker?

@SaladStraightShooter did you delete the voting system? I lost all my points ;(
  • IsabelleKIsabelleK Member, Sous Chef Posts: 2,807
@SaladStraightShooter if you ask me, I think that it should look like before, but with little changes:
    1. We can't see who voted for us, or for anyone. But Head, and Sous Chefs can check it.
    2. No one should be able to vote for themselves.
    3. System should not allow voting from the same IP number as the person you are voting on (not sure if this is possible thou).
    4. Maybe add an option that only members with a minimum 100 posts (or less, or more) can vote - this will protect from members making new accounts to vote for themselves.

    @saladstraightshooter

Hi SSS, I don't know who Vanilla is; I guess the site that hosts the GS Forums? (Excuse my ignorance there!)

So couldn't there be a third option with some tweaking, if there are choices to be had, i.e bring back the voting system as it was but with self-voting disabled? I guess not, otherwise you would have put that as another option... I'm not stirring, just interested, that's all, why that can't be done.

Thanks SSS, and I see what you mean....

Maybe just shrug and leave those false votes as they are?... I guess it'd be a lot of work trying to identify them anyway... then start afresh with self-voting disabled (if pos); and even, only able to vote once per item per person? Don't know if that'd be possible...although I suppose that side of things hasn't been abused...(i.e people don't tend to press a "Like" button more than once for someone else... so forget I wrote that... ) ;-)

Edit: I wrote this while you wrote your post above: great news! Hopefully the voting system will return with self-voting disabled now; it'd be a shame if it didn't return, I think; it adds a fun element to the forums, amongst other things, as you say...

Who cares if some mods self voted? It's more amusing than anything else.

Sure, it's no big deal in the whole scheme of things, @JustMe74 - it just makes a bit of a mockery of the system...

Edit: P.S I'm warming to your comment about press releases - in the main - being a waste of money and time... :)>- (but that's for another thread...) ;-)

ah @SSS … I wanted to Awesome you on the post about removing self-votes
alas, I can't send you all that loving …
this will have to do for now ❤

and, could you also make those who collaborated in gaming the points/badges remove their mutual-reward/badges?

Oh, joy! I love the reaction system, it would be a shame if it were thrown away.

Whats the point - the integrity of the system has been destroyed by those who gamed it for self-aggrandization.

Arghhh...You have been anonymously 'agreeing' and 'liking' your own posts for weeks - how does that 'not matter' in an open and trustworthy forum.. jesus you really are in the wrong job.

Oh .... and the couple of self votes I've looked at.... haven't gone
  • Braydon_SFXBraydon_SFX Member, Sous Chef, Bowlboy Sidekick Posts: 9,273
All of my points have been removed....
  • Rob2Rob2 Member Posts: 2,402
@Braydon You never had the ability to vote for yourself.
  • Braydon_SFXBraydon_SFX Member, Sous Chef, Bowlboy Sidekick Posts: 9,273
@Rob2 - not sure what your trying to relay. It seems all of my points have been removed. I have voted for myself, if that's what your saying. :)
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
    @rob2
@saladstraightshooter is a head chef and his threads represent the behalf of gamesalad so therefore e is going to get the majority of "reactions" If that's what you guys mean by self voting
  • Braydon_SFXBraydon_SFX Member, Sous Chef, Bowlboy Sidekick Posts: 9,273
Whoops, meant that I HAVE NOT voted for myself. Sorry for that typo.
