How about a Game of the Year?
I was just thinking of the good press that the finalists of the Macworld Challenge got and all the good games that have come out since then and probably will before this winter. What if GS did a game of the year? Obviously they wouldn't want to do it too close to Macworld, if they plan on doing the challenge again, but give the developers another opportunity to be recognized for putting out a great game.
I wonder if a developer thats working on something later in the year might hold on and postpone the release so they'd be eligible for the Macworld Challenge. If there is some sort of Game of the Year then they wouldn't have to think about it.
