problem with jump landing sinking into ground plane

hey chaps, i got a endless runner going and i have a jump set up and its working perfect.. except on the landing the character sinks about 5 or so pixels into the landing platform and instantly pops back out. not bounces off but kinda sinks in then snaps back to the surface.
the jump is set up with a

when grounded, and key is pressed
set lin vel y 800
otherwise accelerate 1800 down.

and yes there is a collide rule on the character telling it to collide with tag platforms.
really trying to figure this out cause i have kill planes lining the edges of the platforms a couple of pixels lower than the surface, but as it is if you land on the edge you sink down and hit the kill plane

any ideas?

    Try having the actor shrink 5 pixels when it hits the ground

    Or

    Reduce the "gravity" to 1700

    Or

    Move the kill plane down a little.
