speed up actor's speed

can anyone tell me how to speed up my actor's speed for 2 second when it touches any object.

    Add a rule that says "when overlaps or colide with any thing" and in that rule add a timer that says "for 2 sek, accelerate " then choose direction and speed! Open up the otherwise and drag in the speed it originaly had :)

    I don't know why it's not working. The actor keeps moving at same the speed after 2 seconds and does not slow down.
