swipe to change direction?

hey im trying to make a game where you swipe the screen to change direction,
example, youve got a walk and a run controll, so what you do is you swipe right on the screen to face right so when you hold down walk, you will walk right, and if you swipe left on the screen and you hold down walk, you will walk left, how can i do this? help would be very very appreciated thank you!
