Keep in mind, GS has their reputation riding on this too. They probably don't have an iPad to test on, and if I were them, I sure wouldn't release this option until they are sure it will work.
I'm thinking that they probably do have an iPad for testing... but I'm becoming more doubtful that they're going to release an update before Saturday.
That's because it's REALLY close to Saturday. Even if they released the update later today, that doesn't give you very much time to prepare an app for the iPad launch.
Yes.....also remember Apple will be "selecting" apps for the launch...and just because we submit does not mean it will not get kicked back. BUT the main thing is to get stuff over to them if possible.
but think if they want to make GS a popular tool this is the right time !
Ipad is gonna sell millions and with good games ( like mine ) with the logo "made with GameSalad " there's no way people will buy even more games done with this engine.
THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME ! to make GAMESALAD more famous among users and developers!
it's gotta be ready this forum is a tough crowd if it's not perfect
also they are smart to not say anything. I know it's frustrating but it's just bad buisiness to even hint in such dangerous terrtory...... And any hint would be takin as it will launch tomorrw
Too bad they already told us to be ready to have our things in the resolution of the iPad screen. That one post alone has instilled in nearly all of us the hope of the iPad being supported by GS and relatively soon.
I have a bit of experience in community management. I find that honesty and frequent communication works best.
If they would have said... "Hey, we're going to try and release the next update of GameSalad before the March 27th deadline, but we're not sure if we're going to make it. Just to be on the safe side, have 1024x768 / 768x1024 versions of your game ready to go."
Instead, what was said was a clue. This leaves the rest for the GameSalad community to imagine. High expectations are being set. Now, if those expectations are not met, there's going to be disappointment and maybe even some bitterness.
I think it would be nice to have my games ready for the iPad on launch day. But now, I'm thinking it's more important for GameSalad to save face. Will the developers at Gendai Games be heroes in the next 24 hours? The tension is building.
The main reason I'm here is because Adobe changed their Flash CS5 beta. Adobe set an expectation and they failed to meet it. Stuff like this can be really damaging to communities.
Heh, well, I'm really busy today... trying to fix/finish up my games. I don't know what's going to happen, but there is good reason to believe that an update could happen later today.
Even if my iPad version was ready and GS could export it today, I still would rather wait and test it on an actual iPad. I just know I'll want or need to make some adjustments. I wouldn't be surprised if many others will find the need to do that too. Just something to think about
MQ, I've been thinking this exact thing: do all you folks who are so eager to release iPad games now have an actual device to test on? There are so many variables that are changing (OS, display, processor), on top of the fact that it's a version 1 device, which will be running what is still "beta" software (GameSalad). It seems some testing is clearly in order.
That's cool. However I want to make creative choices about how much I might be able to enhance my game. Things like improving audio, upping the animation to 30fps from 15fps and adding parallax backgrounds (and to what extent). I know I'll be fooling around going back and forth for a week or two until it sits right. Something Apple couldn't do for me.
But it depends upon the game of course.
And I told myself I would never start a sentence with the word "but"!.....

just sayin'

I'm staying ready just as a precaution.
I am not in hurry with iPad. There will be plenty of time to release a game and still be visible on the ipad appstpore
A bit of communication would be appriciated.
it was hinted that gs will support it in the future at best
be ready but I wouldn't count on it
if you feel it's a waste of time don't waste your time.
Like said they are hand picking apps.
I assume it's kind of like the odds o getting featured
But I''ll only launch it for the IPAD if Gamesalad give me an option to export it to the IPAD.
Apple is gonna LOVE this game i've done it's tottaly casual and funny!
If I ran a forum like this and someone said, "Photics is working on a death ray!"
...I think I'd post up to set the record straight.
:-)

No wonder the GS guys don't want to give us a roadmap with general dates on them for new features! Look what happens when they don't even do that!

Just a feeling (based on previous new builds being released on a Friday at the end of the month)

..... and the word "and"...... LOL!
If our apps are just dogs im sure they will let us know
They supposedly are going to give us a bunch of feedback and a chance to make last minute adjustments before they publish anything
