Trouble with ios 5.1.1

My iphone is the current 5.1.1 version, but my mac is a Snow Leopard, so I use an older version of Xcode. It seems my iphone can't work with that version of Xcode. Did I buy a developer license too early?

    I would probably upgrade to Lion. That's what I have did

    yup, i made the same mistake... so i haven't been able to use my viewer in months.
    You will need mac os x 10.7(lion) although I have been having a very hard time finding it anywhere, you'll probably have to get 10.8(mountain lion). If anyone does know the current whereabouts of the lion, please share.

    Wow because I upgraded to Snow Leopard to run Gamesalad in the first place. Oh well....
