ogg is the format GSC changes sound files to for Sounds (considered any track that's 30 seconds or less in playing-time length). mp4 is the format GSC changes the sound file to for Music (any track more than 30 seconds long).

By dragging any sound file into GSC that hasn't got the format ogg or mp4, a dialog will appear, asking which you want, i.e sound (ogg) or music (mp4).

But if your sound file is already ogg, it'll assume it's a sound file and not give you the choice to change it. (And if it's mp4 it'll assume it's music, again without a chance to change it).

So: you will have to change the format of your ogg file in an Audio Editor, to something like a wav or aiff file. Then when you put it into GSC you'll be given the choice, so you can then select it as Music file as you want.

mmmm for some reason somethings wrong, i put a m4a music file in, and when i make an icon for play music, the music wont play, but sound effects do, whats the problem?

At a guess you've still got the Play Sound behaviour in the Rules somewhere.... just delete that and bring in your Play Music behaviour and you should be good to go.

So let's get this right: you press the button, and a sound effect plays which is from a Sound Behaviour, but not any music as you expect from a Music Behaviour? :-/

You have mentioned m4a or maybe you mean m4v file? These formats would not be compatible with GS. m4v is an iTunes format...do not use it.

I use .wav files to import personally.

gamesalad says only m4a and ogg files are supported, and will only let those two types of files in,.

yes, thats what happens, i even tried just creating an actor, i placed the play sound behavior in the actor and test played, the sound played,

then i placed the play music behavior did the same thing, only silence happened.
