Don't templates cause problems?

If someone sells templates with art and music included, wouldn't that create alot of games on the appstore that are VERY similar? DBA has a lot of very good template for very reasonable prices, but I'm too scared to buy any of them for this reason. Does apple even allow you to submit a game that is nearly identical to an existing app?

Yes it happens and unfortunately apple allows them too. It's not bad as log as you add to the template to make your own game and own art etc.... But some people do upload them as is. :(

Yes a small number of people upload as is but 99% use the templates as a foundation to build there own games.

We have seen a lot of games featured by apple that were made using our templates so it pays to work on them by adding levels, changing art and music or whatever.

i dont think i'll ever release a full template of my game, but more likely save out each neat part seperately like the volume slider / mute button template i did for my current project

and i'll probably do one for the multi player profile system i'm setting up now.
