Fixing this problem??

Hi guys, I am trying to add in a text picture onto a gamesalad scene like this.

Although, as you can see. The white takes up all the space, and is NOT transparent.. Is there a way to fix this?

I have tried countless times to crop out the white, but the text always ends up distorted and weird
I have the application Gimp
I have tried adding an actor into the scene, and giving it the text attribute, but the text always end up going off screen.

I don't use gimp, but in photoshop I'd set the text on a transparent layer/background then save it as a 24bit png file. This would make the text image show in Gamesalad with no background.

Hm... I don't have photoshop, but I will try and set the background on gimp to transparent. Thanks jamie
