make actor turn around after hitting wall

I have an actor that has tilt controls I have managed to make him go from one end of the screen back to the other and up and down ect, but when he hits the wall at the end i would like him to turn around and face the direction he came from. I have tried flip horizontally, i have tried change attribute when collides with wall self.motions.lin.vel.x to -self.motions.lin.vel.x and nothing seems to work? What am I missing? Please help.....:)
