Need help with custom fonts

I followed t shirt booths tut on custom font but my font does not go below 0, it has 3 numbers and when it goes below 0 it justs goes to 999. can someone help me invert it so it goes to negative numbers and can someone please help me to get a minus sign showing

Is the tutorial using INTEGER or INDEX for the score AND/OR the digit, as INDEX cannot go below 0.

i already am using a integer attribute

Now you just need to create a '-' image and condition that to show if SCORE is < 0

but how do i invert the score so that it counts up when it goes below 0
