In-depth guide to GS game logic?

Hello GS forums,

I've been in the process of making a game (big surprise) and I've gotten most of the basics down. I have a near-fully animated player that can walk, run, jump, attack, etc, and am now working on the enemies.

I have been having trouble figuring out how to make them behave just how I want them to and was hoping there might be an in-depth guide somewhere for GS's game logic. I've read through the Cookbook and while it helped get me through the start, it doesn't explain as much as I need to so I can fully understand what to do.

Specifically I'm looking for how to make an enemy react a certain way to the player depending on distance or direction. At least, that's what I need right now, but if there was a guide somewhere that can help explain everything there is to know about rules, behavior, etc, then that would be extremely helpful. Or at least help point me in the right direction in the Cookbook if I overlooked something.
